Authorities say 15 bodies have been recovered from the state-owned Merpati airline flight that took off from Sorong headed for Kaimana. The French news agency, AFP, reports the remaining bodies are trapped in the wreckage of the twin turboprop plane. Authorities say the passengers included an infant and two children. Indonesian aviation officials say bad weather may have caused the crash. The vast Indonesian archipelago relies heavily on air transport and has one of Asia's worst air safety records.
