Guards transported Mladic to the Belgrade cemetery containing the grave of his daughter Ana, who committed suicide in 1994. A three-judge panel is set to decide on his appeal Tuesday. A justice official told Reuters news service that the appeal will almost certainly be denied and Mladic swiftly sent off to the U.N. war crimes tribunal in the Netherlands. The tribunal has charged Mladic with the 1995 massacre of some 8,000 Muslim men and boys from Srebrenica. He also is charged with war crimes related to the three-year siege of the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, during the 1992-to-1995 Bosnian war. Mladic filed the appeal Monday. His attorney says the 69-year-old former commander of the Bosnian Serb army is so ill he will not live to see the start of his trial. Serbia's deputy war crimes prosecutor, Bruno Vekaric, says the appeal is a delaying tactic. A Belgrade court on Friday ruled that the Bosnian Serb wartime commander is healthy enough be extradited to The Hague to stand trial. On Sunday, thousands of Mladic supporters held protests in Belgrade and in the former general's birthplace, the town of Kalinovik in southeastern Bosnia-Herzegovina.
