June 25, 2011 Taiwan May Open Parliament to Chinese Tourists VOA News Taiwan's parliamentary speaker says he will consider opening the legislative floor to Chinese tourists so they can learn about how democracy works on the island. According to local media, lawmaker Wu Yu-sheng of the ruling Nationalist Party proposed late Friday that if Chinese tourists are allowed more access to the operations of Taiwan's democracy, it will spread to the Chinese mainland and could lead to improved ties.
