Egypt Suspends Mubarak Name Ruling

   An Egyptian court has suspended a ruling to remove former president
   Hosni Mubarak's name and the name of his wife, Suzanne, from all public
   facilities and institutions.
   The court announced on Saturday that the ruling had been put on hold
   until an appeal can be heard next Wednesday. Some Egyptian lawyers have
   filed a lawsuit asking that the verdict against the Mubaraks be
   canceled.
   An Egyptian court announced the verdict in April. Judge Mohammed Hassan
   Omar said it had become clear that the "size of corruption" that was
   being uncovered in investigations of Mr. Mubarak exceeded "by far
   anyone's imagination."
   The former president resigned in February amid massive anti-government
   protests. He is due to stand trial in August on charges of fraud and
   orchestrating the killings of opposition demonstrators.
   Meanwhile, Egyptian security forces fired shots into the air on
   Saturday to stop hundreds of protesters from storming the headquarters
   of the Suez Canal Authority.
   Workers demanding better pay and promotions have staged a series of
   protests outside of the facility in the city of Ismailia.
