A suicide bomber blew himself up at a busy market in the Pakistani capital, killing at least one person in the first bombing in Islamabad in over a year and a half, police said, June 13, 2011 Pakistan police say a suicide bomber blew himself up Monday at a bank in the Pakistan capital, Islamabad, killing one person and wounding at least four people. The assault was the first bombing in Islamabad in nearly two years. Police say the attacker detonated his explosives when a security guard stopped the bomber from entering the bank. Authorities say the security guard was killed. No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing, but the Pakistani Taliban have pledged to carry out attacks in retaliation for the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden last month in a garrison town near Islamabad. Earlier Monday, Pakistani security officials said a roadside bomb blast killed three Pakistani soldiers in the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan. Officials say at least three other soldiers were wounded in the explosion in the Ladha area of the South Waziristan tribal region - Pakistan's main stronghold of Taliban and al-Qaida-linked militants. Militants have launched a number of attacks against Pakistani security forces following the May 2 killing of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden by U.S. forces.
