Suicide Bomber Kills Kandahar Deputy Governor VOA News January 29, 2011 Afghan officials say a suicide bomber has killed the deputy governor of the southern Kandahar province and wounded five people. Authorities say the bomber, who was on a motorcycle, attacked the car of Abdul Latif Ashna Saturday as he was on his way to work in the provincial capital, Kandahar city. The French news agency, AFP, reports the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. Kandahar is considered the spiritual home of the Taliban. On Friday, a suicide bomber killed nine people at a Kabul supermarket frequented by foreigners. The Taliban also claimed responsibility for that attack in the nation's capital.
