The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake's epicenter was 55 kilometers west of the town of Dalbandin in Baluchistan province, the country's most sparsely populated area. The quake struck at 1:23 a.m. local time Wednesday (2023 UTC Tuesday) at a depth of 84 kilometers. Initial reports said the quake's magnitude was 7.4 at the depth of 10 kilometers, but the U.S. agency later revised those numbers. There are no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the area, which lies close to the border with Afghanistan. Local media said strong tremors were felt throughout several provinces, and as far away as the country's largest city of Karachi, and India's capital, New Delhi.
