   Women  hold  signs,  with bread taped on them, demonstrate against the
   government in Amman, Jordan, 14 Jan 2011

   Thousands of people have gathered in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and
   other cities to protest the rising cost of living in the country.
   Demonstrators chanted anti-government slogans and carried signs Friday
   demanding Prime Minister Samir al-Rifai's resignation.
   The  protests  are  taking  place  despite  the  government's decision
   Tuesday to slash prices for basic goods and some types of fuel.
   The  demonstrations  were  organized  by  the  Jordan  Social  Leftist
   Movement  and  have  received support from other opposition groups and
   trade unions.
