Clinton Supports Egypt's Reform Plans VOA News February 05, 2011 U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has backed the Egyptian government's plans to enact major political reforms in the face of protests against President Hosni Mubarak. At a security conference in Germany Saturday, Clinton said it is important to support the transition process headed by newly appointed Vice President Omar Suleiman. The former Egyptian intelligence chief is meeting with members of the opposition Saturday to consider plans to install a transitional government, that he may lead himself. Clinton stressed that a peaceful transition may take time saying "the principles are very clear, the operational details are very challenging." At the conference, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said there will be change in Egypt, and that it needs to be peaceful.  British Prime Minister David Cameron said there is no stability in Egypt and there will not be until there is change, reform and transition.
