France Supports Freeze on Mubarak's Assets

   France  says  it  will move forward with an Egyptian request to freeze
   the  foreign assets of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his
   family.
   The  French  Foreign Ministry said it received the request Tuesday. It
   was not immediately clear what assets the Mubarak family might have in
   France, but the fortune is said to be worth billions of dollars.
   Egypt's  top  prosecutor general Abdel Magid Mahmud issued the request
   on  Monday,  10  days after the longtime president stepped down in the
   face of nationwide anti-government protests.
   The  freeze  applies  to  the former president, his wife and their two
   sons together with their wives.
   Egyptian authorities previously requested a freeze on assets held by a
   dozen Egyptian officials with close links to the ex-president.
   Switzerland already has frozen Mr. Mubarak's bank accounts there.
