Owing to the the terms of the Royal Marriages Act of 1772, Britain's monarch must formally approve of the marriages of most of the descendants of King George II before they can wed. The so-called Instrument of Consent was released by Prince William's office Thursday and contains the Queen's signature. If consent is not given the marriage is considered invalid. * For more information on the Royal Wedding, visit out [1]Special Report page Some information for this report was provided by Reuters.
