Israeli Foreign Minister Faces Corruption Probe

   Israel has moved a step closer to indicting Foreign Minister Avigdor
   Lieberman on corruption charges.
   The justice ministry announced Wednesday that Attorney General Yehuda
   Weinstein had informed Lieberman that he is considering filing charges
   against him for alleged fraud, money laundering, witness tampering and
   breach of trust.
   Under Israeli law, the high-ranking minister will be granted the right
   to a hearing, during which he can try to prevent the indictment.
   Israeli police suspect Lieberman unlawfully obtained about $3 million
   by funneling money through at least six shell companies.
   Police also allege that Lieberman received confidential information
   about a probe against him from an Israeli ambassador to Belarus.
   The Reuters news agency reports Lieberman has denied wrongdoing.
