Oil Rig Explodes in Gulf of Mexico

   An oil rig has exploded in the Gulf of Mexico.
   The  U.S. Coast Guard says the explosion occurred about 145 kilometers
   south  of  Vermilion  Bay  along  the  coast  of the southern state of
   Louisiana. The explosion set the rig on fire.
   A  Coast  Guard  official  told  CNN Thursday that all 13 crew members
   reported  to  be aboard the rig have been located in the water. One is
   injured and 12 are in immersion suits.
   The  officer said helicopters and boats are on their way to rescue the
   crew.

   He  said  it  is not known yet whether the explosion has caused an oil
   leak,  though  he  said  there  are  reports  the rig was not actively
   producing any product.
   The explosion comes about four-and-a-half months after another oil rig
   exploded  in  the  Gulf,  killing 11 people and sparking the worst oil
   spill in U.S. history.
