US Considering Travel Alert for Europe

   The  U.S.  government  is  considering  issuing  a  travel warning for
   Americans  going  to  Europe,  amid  indications  that al-Qaida may be
   planning new attacks there.  Â
   U.S.  and  European officials say the State Department could issue the
   alert as soon as Sunday.  The Associated Press reports that the alert
   will not specify any particular countries.
   The news comes days after Western intelligence officials said they had
   uncovered  a  terror  plot  to  strike  several European cities.  The
   officials  said  they  had information the attacks had been planned by
   terrorist groups operating in Pakistan's lawless tribal regions.
   Also  Saturday,  the  second audio tape in as many days believed to be
   from  al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was posted on the Internet.  On
   it,  bin  Laden  urges  Muslims  to do more to help the victims of the
   recent floods in Pakistan.
   U.S.  and  British news reports quoting unnamed security officials say
   the  suspected terror plot calls for attacks similar to those launched
   in  Mumbai  (India) in 2008.  Heavily armed Islamic militants stormed
   multiple sites in the Indian metropolis, killing 166 people.
   Some  of  the details of the alleged plot are said to have come from a
   German  national  (Ahmed  Siddiqui) who was captured in Afghanistan in
   July.
