Youngest Guantanamo Detainee Set to Go on Trial 25 October 2010 Inmates behind a fence at the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba Inmates behind a fence at the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba A Canadian man held by U.S. authorities since he was 15 years old is set to go on trial Monday before a military tribunal at the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Omar Khadr, now 24, is accused of throwing a grenade that killed a U.S. soldier during a battle in Afghanistan in 2002.  He is the last Western prisoner at Guantanamo. Defense lawyers have been trying to work out a deal that would allow Khadr to plead guilty and serve the rest of his sentence in Canada. Any plea agreement involving Canada would have to be worked out between Washington and Ottawa.  Khadr's trial has drawn international criticism due to his age at the time of his capture.  His trial is the first Guantanamo proceeding under U.S. President Barack Obama's administration. .
