Suicide Bomber Attacks UN Office in Afghanistan

   Security personnel have surrounded the building in Herat.

   The United Nations office in western Afghanistan has been attacked.
   Officials  say  at  least  one suicide bomber struck the U.N. compound
   outside Herat city Saturday and insurgents have entered the building.
   The  Associated  Press  reports  the  entrance  to the office has been
   destroyed in an explosion.
   Officials say security forces have surrounded the building.
   There is no immediate word on causalities.
   U.N.  spokesman Dan McNorton says the U.N. is working closely with the
   local authorities to deal with the situation.
