Suicide Bomber Attacks UN Office in Afghanistan Security personnel have surrounded the building in Herat. VOA News 23 October 2010 The United Nations office in western Afghanistan has been attacked. Officials say at least one suicide bomber struck the U.N. compound outside Herat city Saturday and insurgents have entered the building. The Associated Press reports the entrance to the office has been destroyed in an explosion. Officials say security forces have surrounded the building. There is no immediate word on causalities.
