Prior to his arrival, he said the anti-church movement in Spain now rivals that of 1930s leading up to the Spanish Civil War. The pontiff begins his trip with a visit to Santiago de Compostela to pay respects to the remains of St. James the Apostle. On Sunday, Pope Benedict is expected to draw more than 100,000 people to an open air Mass in Barcelona, where he will sanctify Antoni Gaudi's unfinished Sagrada Familia as a basilica. Gay and lesbian activists plan to protest the pope's visit to Barcelona with a "kiss-in." Some information for this report was provided by AFP. .
