In his first weekly address since Republicans won elections to take control of the House of Representatives and make gains in the Senate, Mr. Obama said he will sit down with leaders of both parties for discussions on moving the country forward. Mr. Obama said both parties agree on the need to strengthen the middle class and extend tax cuts due to expire at the end of this year. But he said extending tax cuts for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans would mean digging the country deeper into debt.
