Prime Minister and Labor Party leader Gordon Brown faces the possible loss of his seat, ending a 13-year run of his party in power. Opinion polls show the opposition Conservative party, led by David Cameron, with a slight lead. But those polls also indicate neither Labor nor Conservatives can win enough support for an outright majority in parliament. The race is complicated by the Liberal Democrat party, headed by the younger, charismatic Nick Clegg. The relative unknown before the race gained a sizable following for his party during Britain's first-ever televised debates. Most Labor and Conservative party leaders say votes for the Liberal Democrats will only make it harder for them to form a government. On Thursday, a candidate for the UK Independence Party was injured when his aircraft crashed while campaigning. Nigel Farage and the pilot suffered only minor injuries in the crash in central Northamptonshire. Farage is standing against House of Commons speaker John Bercow. The UK Independence Party advocates Britain's withdrawal from the European Union. Some information for this report was provided by AP and Reuters. .
