Authorities say an improvised explosive device and a car bomb detonated near buses carrying the students from the mainly Christian town of Hamdaniyah to the university of Mosul Sunday. Police say a shopkeeper died in the attack. Iraqi insurgents have targeted Christians and other minorities, prompting Human Rights Watch earlier this year to urge authorities to do more to protect those groups.
