Officials say the dead include at least five foreign troops. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack in the capital. Afghanistan's chief of criminal investigation, Abdul Ghafor Sayedzada, said the blast was near Afghan government buildings. NATO forces say they are working with Afghan police at the site. The explosion comes a day after NATO's top commander in Europe, Admiral James Stavridis, said hundreds of extra international trainers may be needed to bolster Afghan security forces early next year. The United States has been pressing its allies to commit more resources to Afghanistan to help Afghan military and police take control of security. Â Several international troops, including two Italian soldiers, were reported killed Monday in a series of attacks across Afghanistan. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi released a statement expressing his condolences and reaffirming his government's commitment to the Afghan mission.
