Police: Gunman, Co-Worker Dead in Ohio University Shooting VOA News 09 March 2010 Police at one of the largest universities in the United States say a maintenance worker opened fire at a campus maintenance building, killing one person and injuring another before fatally shooting himself. The police at Ohio State University in the central U.S. state of Ohio say 51-year-old Nathaniel Brown entered the building early Tuesday and began firing. Authorities say about six workers were in the room at the time of the shooting. University Police Chief Paul Denton says the building manager was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say the gunman was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. A third maintenance worker is in stable condition. Denton says Brown had been hired last year and recently got a poor performance evaluation. The university said in a statement that students were never in any danger and that classes are being held as normal. Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee said in a statement that everyone at the school was shocked and saddened by the shooting. He said the safety of students and staff remains a top priority for the university. The shooting took place near Ohio Stadium, which seats more than 100,000 people. Some information for this report was provided by AP. .
