Drone Strike Kills 9 in Pakistan VOA News 16 March 2010 Pakistani officials say a U.S. drone aircraft has killed at least nine people in the tribal district of North Waziristan. They say the strike on Tuesday hit a compound used by militants in Datta Khel, 30 kilometers west of North Waziristan's main town of Miranshan. The U.S. has regularly launched attacks by the unmanned planes on the district, which is a stronghold of al-Qaida and the Taliban. Last week, Pakistani intelligence officials said two suspected U.S. drone strikes killed at least 12 people in the North Waziristan village of Mizarkhel. Such attacks have killed senior members of al-Qaida and the Taliban, but have sparked criticism from Pakistan's government. Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters. .
