   The  death  toll  from  flooding in Ghana has risen to at least 30, up
   from 23 on Monday.
   Kofi    Portuphy,   coordinator   of   Ghana's   disaster   management
   organization, confirmed the new figure to reporters Tuesday.
   Most  of  the  flooding  is  in  areas near the capital, Accra, and in
   central Ghana.
   The  deluge,  caused  by  heavy  rains,  has  swept  away vehicles and
   destroyed homes, displacing hundreds of people.
   Ghanaian officials are calling the floods the worst in recent memory.
   West  Africa's  yearly  rainy season often triggers heavy floods.  In
   2009, flooding killed more than 100 people and displaced more than 2.5
   million across eight countries.
