Dozens Killed in China Mine Explosion VOA News 21 June 2010 Chinese state media report that at least 46 miners have been killed in an explosion at a mine in central Henan province. The official Xinhua news agency said the blast occurred early Monday near Pingdingshan city in the province. The report said 72 workers were in the mine when explosives went off at the powder magazine of the Xingdong Number Two Mine at about 1:40 a.m. The Pingdingshan municipal government confirmed that 26 miners escaped.  No other details were immediately available.
