Dutch captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst opened the scoring in the 18th minute of Tuesday's semifinal in Cape Town, South Africa, before Uruguay's Diego Forlan scored the equalizer in the 41st minute. Sneijder gave the Netherlands the lead on a controversial 70th minute goal where he was close to being judged offside. He used the back of his heel to deflect the ball into the net for his fifth goal of the tournament, tying him for the lead with Spain's David Villa. Three minutes later, the Netherlands scored the game winner as Robben headed in a beautiful crossing pass from Dirk Kuyt for a 3-1 lead. The Netherlands appeared to have the game in hand, before Uruguay's Maximiliano Pereira scored off a free kick in the second minute of extra time (92) to make it 3-2.  But the South Americans failed to break through in a final flurry as the Dutch side advanced to the final. The Netherlands will be making its first appearance in the World Cup Final since 1978. They will meet either Germany or Spain at Johannesburg's Soccer City stadium on Sunday. Spain and Germany play their semifinal match Wednesday in Durban.
