British model Naomi Campbell is now scheduled to testify August 5 at the war crimes trial of former Liberian President Charles Taylor, a week later than initially planned. The Special Court for Sierra Leone announced the delay Monday, saying Campbell requested the change. Prosecutors want to ask Campbell about allegations that Taylor gave her a large rough-cut diamond at a 1997 dinner in South Africa hosted by Nelson Mandela.  Both Campbell and Taylor have denied the allegation. But a former Campbell agent, Carol White, and actress Mia Farrow say they have knowledge about the gift. The two have voluntarily agreed to testify. Taylor is accused of supplying weapons to rebels during Sierra Leone's civil war in return for blood diamonds, the term used to describe gems mined and sold to finance armed conflict. Taylor is facing 11 charges stemming from the war, including murder, rape and conscripting child soldiers. A statement issued by Campbell said she is willing to help the due process of law. Taylor's trial is taking place at the Hague, in the Netherlands. The trial was moved because of security concerns. Some information for this report was provided by AFP and Reuters. .
