Bangladesh Jails 11 Police for Extrajudicial Killing VOA News 11 July 2010 A court in Bangladesh on Sunday sent 11 policemen to jail on suspicion of carrying out an extrajudicial killing in July 2008. It is the first time that policemen have been jailed for a suspected extrajudicial killing in Bangladesh.  Court officials in Natore, northwest of Dhaka, said the policemen surrendered following a summons over the killing of a youth. Police say the youth was shot dead in crossfire during a clash with gangsters, but his family says he was killed in custody. The suspect's bullet-riddled body was found near Natore four days after he had been arrested by police. Court officials said the officers will be formally charged on July 27. Last year, human rights organizations expressed concern about extrajudicial killings in Bangladesh, which are often referred to as "crossfire" killings. .
