US Unemployment Rate Steady at 10 Percent

   VOA News 08 January 2010

   The U.S. economy lost 85,000 jobs last month.
   Friday's report from the Labor Department also showed the unemployment
   rate held steady at 10 percent.
   U.S.  President  Barack  Obama  is expected to speak about the economy
   later in the day.
   Unemployment   is   one   of  the  most  difficult  issues  the  Obama
   administration is facing, as it tries to help the U.S. economy recover
   from the worst recession in decades.
   The  U.S.  economy  has had a net loss of more than seven million jobs
   since the recession began in December 2007.
