Lufthansa Pilots On Four-Day Strike

   Pilots for Germany's Lufthansa airline have launched a four-day strike
   over  salaries and job security, sending passengers scrambling to find
   alternate flights.
   Pilots  walked off the job just after midnight Monday when their union
   rejected the government's last ditch effort to hold more talks.
   Lufthansa has been forced to cancel nearly all its passenger and cargo
   flights  through Thursday.  It is apologizing for any inconvenience to
   travelers.
   Lufthansa says the strike could cost it about $34 million per day.
   The  union is demanding that all Lufthansa pilots, including those who
   fly for its overseas affiliated airlines, get the same salaries.
   The  union  says this will prevent Lufthansa from moving jobs to other
   countries where salaries are lower than in Germany.
