Suspected US Drone Strike Kills 4 In NW Pakistan VOA News 02 February 2010 Pakistani intelligence officials say suspected U.S. drones have fired eight missiles into a militant compound in Pakistan's northwest tribal region, killing at least four militants. News reports quote unnamed intelligence officials about the attack. They did not say if the dead are Pakistani or nationalities. North Waziristan is known as a base for the Taliban-allied Haqqani militant group, which is blamed for cross border attacks against U.S., NATO and Afghan troops in Afghanistan. U.S. officials do not publicly comment on the drone strikes. Pakistani officials routinely denounce them as violations of Pakistan's sovereignty, but some officials are believed to secretly cooperate in the operations.
