Blast Kills Worshippers in Iran VOA News 15 December 2010 Iranian media reports say a suicide bomb attack has rocked the southern city of Chahbahar, killing at least 38 people. The blast took place near a mosque where worshippers had gathered for a ceremony marking Ashura, one of the most important holy days for Shi'ites. Initial reports indicate one suicide bomber detonated explosives but authorities were able to arrest a second suspect before he detonated explosives. The reports say more than 50 people were wounded. The area is located in Sistan-Baluchistan province, near the country's border with Pakistan. There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack which occurred in an area that is home to the Sunni militant group Jundallah (Soldiers of God). Ashura commemorates the death of Imam Hussein more than 1,300 years ago. He was a grandson of the Prophet Mohammad. .
