The effort comes at the same time a nationwide [1]poll by the [2]Associated Press shows that just 41 percent of those surveyed approve of Mr. Obama's performance on the economy, which most voters say is the most important issue. At a stop Wednesday in Ohio, the president took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves and took questions in an informal meeting with a middle class family and their neighbors. Mr. Obama repeated his assertions that the economy is improving and that the nation is on the right track, warning against going back to the policies of his Republican predecessor that he blames for what he calls the economic mess. He said it will take time to recover the eight million jobs lost during the recession. The president is scheduled to attend political events in Florida before returning to Washington. Some information for this report was provided by AP, AFP and Reuters.
