Israeli media report medical workers who rushed to the scene were not allowed to enter the embassy by Turkish security. Israeli reports said Israeli police snipers fired shots at the man after they spotted him by a window at the embassy. There are conflicting reports that at least two hostages were taken inside the embassy. Tensions between Israel and Turkey have been running high since an Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla in May killed nine Turkish activists.
