The multiple bombings destroyed several apartment buildings and a restaurant in the Allawi district Tuesday. Media reports say people are trapped under the rubble. An Interior Ministry official says a suicide bomber also struck near the former British Embassy. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing. The attacks in the Iraqi capital in recent days broke a period of calm following the March 7 parliamentary elections.  Police said suicide car bombings two days ago targeted the embassies of Iran, Egypt, Germany and Spain. Officials had feared security could deteriorate as disputes on election results continue, and opposing factions work to create a unity government.
