Zuma Urges Calm After White Supremacist Killed VOA News 04 April 2010 South African President Jacob Zuma is appealing for calm after the killing of a white supremacist leader. In a statement Sunday, Mr. Zuma condemned the murder of 69-year-old Eugene Terre'Blanche, and urged South Africans to not let the killing spark racial hatred. Police say Terre'Blanche was bludgeoned to death on his farm near Johannesburg Saturday by two workers. The workers, ages 15 and 21, say Terre'Blanche had not paid them for work they did. Terre'Blanche was the founder of the Afrikaner Resistance Movement that fought to prevent the end of apartheid in the early 1990s. In recent years, he had called for creation of a whites-only republic in South Africa. Terre'Blanche was sent to prison in 2001 for assaulting a black security guard. He was released in 2004.
