Fishing Boat Missing Near North Korean Border VOA News 03 April 2010 A South Korean fishing boat has disappeared while searching for survivors of last week's sinking of a Korean naval vessel. Authorities in South Korea are reporting a 99-ton fishing boat with nine crewmen aboard went missing Friday evening near the western maritime border with North Korea. South Korean's Yonhap News Agency identified the vessel as the Kumyan (number) 98. The disappearance of the Kumyan occurred in the same area where the South Korean patrol ship Cheonan sank on March 26 after an explosion tore the vessel in two. Forty-six 46 sailors from the Cheoan are still listed as missing. On Friday, Defense Minister Kim Tae-young told members of parliament that he believes a torpedo and not a North Korean sea mine as was the more likely cause of the Cheonan's destruction.
