The attack took place Thursday in the Khyber region, near the border with Afghanistan. A government official said the bomber struck near policemen who had gathered to break their Ramadan fast. Earlier, in the south Waziristan tribal region, authorities said six militants were killed in a suspected U.S. drone (pilotless aircraft) attack on a suspected militant hideout. One day earlier, Pakistani military helicopter gunships attacked Taliban targets in the same region along the Afghan border. The new leader of the Pakistani Taliban, Hakimullah Mehsud, has vowed to take revenge against the United States for the death of their former commander.
