George Bush canceled a trip Thursday to focus on the country's economic
crisis. The White House says Mr. Bush will be consulting with his
economic advisers in Washington on how best to handle the turmoil in the
U.S. financial markets. Spokesman Tony Fratto says the president will be
working on taking action to stabilize the markets and restore investor
confidence. The president had planned to visit the southern states of
Florida and Alabama, but the White House called off the trip late
Wednesday.
