Mc Cain released the statement Monday after Lehman Brothers announced it is filing for bankruptcy. He said the duress at Lehman Brothers is the latest reminder of ineffective regulation and management in the financial sector. Mc Cain is scheduled to make several appearances in the southeastern U.S. state of Florida Monday. Sunday, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama announced he has raised a record $66 million last month in campaign funds. The Illinois senator's campaign said he reached the new record by enrolling 500,000 new donors. Mc Cain has raised $47 million. August was the last month Mc Cain could raise private funds. The Arizona senator accepted public financing for the November general election, while Obama rejected it so he! could raise more in private donations. Obama is the first major presidential candidate to reject the millions of dollars in public funds available for the general election since the system was put in place in the 1970s. .
