The U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake's intensity at 6.6. The quake struck Sunday at 9:52 pm local time (15:52 UTC) and was centered 65 kilometers southeast of Sary-Tash. Officials say the quake injured another 50 people and destroyed at least 120 buildings in the village of Nura, near Kyrgyzstan's mountainous border with China. Nura is a remote village with a population of just under one thousand. Officials said rescue operations are continuing to see if anyone is still buried under the debris.
