2008Palestinian officials say two Israeli air strikes Tuesday in the
Gaza Strip have killed five militants and wounded two other
Palestinians.The Islamic Jihad militant group said its members were
killed when a missile struck their car near the southern town of Khan
Younis.Another Israeli air strike wounded at least two Palestinians near
the town of Deir el-Balah.The Israeli army has confirmed both air
strikes. Army officials say what they call "terror activists" were the
target of the first attack and had no immediate details on the second
strike.Israel frequently targets Gaza militants who launch rockets into
Israel.Israel closed its border with Gaza last year after Hamas
militants gained control of the region, following fierce clashes with
members of Fatah - which is led by Palestinian President Mahmoud
Abbas.Both sides are in Egyptian-brokered p!
 eace talks, and Hamas officials said Monday they could be close to
signing a truce in the Gaza Strip.
