Police say the bomber, with explosives strapped to his body, tried to enter the house of a senior police official in the town of Lashkar Gah, and was stopped by guards. Officials say he detonated his explosives, killing a policeman and wounding two children along with at least two other police officers. Elsewhere, the Netherlands' Defense Ministry said Sunday that two Dutch soldiers had been killed in combat. The ministry said in a statement the soldiers came under hostile fire near their base at Deh Rawod in Uruzgan province Saturday. The two were participating in an operation to gauge prospects for the return of displaced Afghans. Hundreds of Dutch and Afghan soldiers are involved in the operation. More than 1,600 Dutch soldiers are deployed in Uruzgan as part of the NATO-led international security force. A total of 14 Dutch troops have been killed in Afghanistan, either in combat or accidents.
