Xinhua says Saturday's quake damaged or destroyed more than 100,000 homes and affected at least 600,000 people. Authorities say at least 238 people were hurt. Heavy rain and poor communication have hampered rescue efforts and made it difficult to get complete casualty figures. The center of Saturday's quake was located about 30 kilometers southeast of Panzhihua, near Sichuan's border with Yunnan province. Chinese experts say the tremor had a magnitude of 6.1, but the U.S. Geological Survey measured the magnitude at 5.7.On May 12, an earthquake in Sichuan province killed nearly 70,000 people and left millions more homeless.
