The Iranian president is scheduled to arrive in New York Sunday for a visit that has him appearing at a Columbia University forum Monday. Mr. Ahmadinejad also is scheduled to address the U.N. General Assembly Tuesday.  He has visited the United States to address the world body in each of the last two years. Before leaving for the United States, Mr. Ahmadinejad told reporters today that he looks forward to presenting Iran's views about world problems to Americans.  He said Americans have been denied a chance to hear different voices. The Iranian president had wanted to place a wreath at the site of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack in New York.  However, local authorities denied the request. Mr. Ahmadinejad has made controversial comments since becoming president of Iran, including denial of the extent of the Holocaust, in which an estimated six million Jews were killed during World War Two.  He also has called for the Jewish state of Israel to be wiped off the map. The Iranian president insists that Tehran has the right to develop a nuclear program, which he has said is for peaceful purposes.  However, the United States and other Western nations accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons.
