Witnesses say the Russian-built Antonov 26 went down in a residential neighborhood mid-morning local time Thursday.  The witnesses saw heavy smoke and flames in the area after the crash.  It is unclear how many of the casualties were passengers and crew, and how many were on the ground. Airport officials say the plane had taken off from Ndjili airport just a few minutes before the crash.  There was no immediate word on what caused the accident. The plane was operated by the Congolese airline Africa One.  The airline is banned from flying in Europe because of safety concerns.
