Boston rookie center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury had four hits, including three doubles to lead the 15-hit attack. Ellsbury drove in two runs and scored two others to lead the Red Sox to their third win against no losses in the best-of-seven championship series. Daisuke Matsuzaka - the first Japanese pitcher to start in the World Series - earned the victory, pitching into the sixth inning. He also drove in two of the six runs Boston scored in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead. Host Colorado pulled to within a run in the seventh on a three-run home run by Matt Holliday, but Boston came right back with three runs in the eighth inning. Boston could complete a Sunday night in Denver. All 22 prior teams with a three-games-to-none lead in the World Series went on to win the championship - 19 by completing a sweep. The Red Sox swept the St. Louis Cardinals exactly three years ago Saturday to win their first World Series title in 86 years. Some information for this report provided by AP, AFP and Reuters. .
