blackout on media coverage of an airstrike in Syria, acknowledging
that Israeli warplanes hit a target deep inside Syrian territory on
September 6.

Details on the target were not released. There have been unconfirmed
reports that Israeli planes carried out a secret strike on a Syrian
nuclear facility.

The development comes a day after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad
said Israeli warplanes attacked what he said was an "unused military
building" in Syria.

Mr. Assad told the British Broadcasting Corporation that Damascus has
different means to retaliate for the attack, including political
options.
