November 28, 2007 Ahmadinejad Calls Mideast Conference a Failure ---------------------------------------------- http://enews.voanews.com/t?ctl=1A6580E:A6F02AD83191E160D9077FF8BC6CC3B6A13B8D4F2090AB2B& Iranian president says only way to resolve decades-old dispute is to allow Palestinians, including Islamist militant group Hamas, to have a say in any settlement Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Tuesday's U.S.-brokered Mideast peace conference was a "failure," and that Israel is "doomed to collapse." State-run media quote Mr. Ahmadinejad as saying at a Cabinet meeting Wednesday, in Tehran that Israel's collapse is inevitable because, as he put it, it is created on "aggression, oppression and crime." The Iranian president says the only way to resolve the decades-old dispute between Israel and the Palestinians is to allow the Palestinians, including the Islamist militant group Hamas, to have a say in any settlement. Mr. Ahmadinejad raised an international outcry in 2005 when he called for the Jewish state to be "wiped off the map." Iran was not invited to the Mideast conference in Annapolis, Maryland, but its closest ally, Syria, was in attendance, as was Saudi Arabia.
