The officials say the attack took place Monday near the town of Baquba, underscoring the violence that is plaguing the province of Diyala. A roadside bombing also killed three Iraqi soldiers in western Baghdad. In other news, U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq say they have rescued five Iraqis held captive and tortured by terrorists. A coalition statement says the captives were freed during a raid on a building Monday northeast of Karmah "during operations to disrupt the al-Qaida network operating in the area." The statement says the Iraqi hostages indicated their captors were foreign fighters who spoke with different accents. U.S. military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Garver said the coalition will continue to hunt foreign fighters who bring violence into Iraq. Meanwhile, U.S. and Iraqi troops continue to search for three American soldiers kidnapped a week ago in Iraq. Military officials say they believe at least two of the soldiers are still alive.
